Today’s teaser comes from Pride (Single Dads 6)
Unedited – Coming February 2023
One drink.
Just to take the edge off. Then I won’t be such a mess.
“Are you okay?” A voice broke through the clawing panic, and I forced a wave of my hand to show I was fine, still focused on the ground and fighting the need to throw up. The guy didn’t get the hint. “You need me to call someone?”
Fuck off! “I’m good,” I lied, deliberately avoiding glancing at the owner of the voice. If I did that, then he’d want to talk, or he’d be an intuitive asshole who would see I was a fucking mess, and before I knew it, I’d be an inpatient hooked up to monitors. It’s just a panic attack. It’s a burning need to be somewhere else. At a bar. In my room. Anywhere but here. It happens.
“You look really pale,” the man insisted, and I snarled at him as I shot him a glance—one that would quell a normal person, designed to get them to back off. Only this guy, same height as me, slim, small-boned, verging on skinny, with the clearest green eyes I’d ever seen in a man, quirked a confused smile at me as if my growling, hissing self hatred meant nothing to him. My heart skipped a beat—someone not scared of me, who looked me steadily in the eyes and dared me to tell them to leave? A flare of something unfamiliar hit me like a two by four to the chest. Why wasn’t he scared of me? Why wasn’t he backing away, clutching his fucking pearls, then running? He stared at me, neat and tidy and pretty and he wasn’t going anywhere… fuck… was that panic that gripped me now, or was that something else? I’d forgotten what it was like to appreciate another man, and I couldn’t breathe. Was this even real? Was I back in bed? Was this a nightmare?

A blazing connection between single dads from opposite sides of the tracks is fraught with secrets and lies, and a happily ever after is impossible, unless they take a chance on love.
Saved a long time ago by a man who saw a diamond in the rough, Logan is a single dad and the owner of Redcars Automotive, a haven for those in need. With custody of his daughter under scrutiny, his life is upended when a journalist looking for a story slips into his life without him realizing. Logan doesn’t want Gray more than once, but when sharing the secrets of his past won’t get the journalist to leave, what else can he do?
After blaming himself for missing signs that his son was ill, Gray feels Ben is safer with his ex-wife and her new pediatrician husband. With a heart heavy with guilt, and his documentary company failing to find a story, he’s searching for some spark in his life to fix everything. When a series of arson attempts draws him to Los Angeles, he meets the secretive, scarred, and tattooed Logan, who makes him an offer that Gray knows he should refuse.
This opposites-attract love story features two single dads reaching a crossroads in life, angst, secrets, arson, intimidation, and a found family so tightly connected that nothing can break it apart.
