Solving the Case - Lancaster Falls Romantic Suspense RJ Scott MM Romance AuthorI used to watch The Rockford Files, way back before I really understood the intricacies of how he was an ex-con falsely convicted of a crime he didn't commit (I love that trope!). All I knew was that I loved that show, even though Jim did seem to get beat up a lot LOL. I loved the Hardy boys, add in The Professionals, one or two Starsky & Hutch episodes (I was in the UK, we didn't seem to get a lot), then Bergerac, Z Cars, Magnum, Hart to Hart, and my seventies/eighties viewing was straight up crime solving. Then there was moonlighting, I loved that… the memories.

Recently hubs and I have been binge watching Line Of Duty (BBC show) and wow… the storylines, the suspense, the twisted links that never seem to be finally pulled apart – amazing TV.

My new series Lancaster Falls – is three complete romances, each with their own case to solve BUT there is a thread, an over-arching case, that runs through all three. I love that kind of show, where it isn't all just done in one episode, Line Of Duty is the perfect example of that.

Lancaster Falls book 1, What Lies Beneath, is now available to pre-order on Kobo, Apple, and B&N. It will be released wide on 19 July (Kobo, Apple B&N, Smashwords, and Amazon) and go into KU on 26 July.

Links will appear below as and when they go live 🙂

Who are your favorite cops/heroes/PI's who solve the trickiest of cases?

In the hottest summer on record, Iron Lake reservoir is emptying, revealing secrets that were intended to stay hidden beneath the water. The tragic story of a missing man is a media sensation, and abruptly the writer and the cop falling in love is just a postscript to horrors neither could have imagined.

Best Selling Horror writer Chris Lassiter struggles for inspiration and he’s close to never writing again. His life has become an endless loop of nothing but empty pages, personal appearances, and a marketing machine that is systematically destroying his muse. In a desperate attempt to force Chris to complete unfinished manuscripts his agent buys a remote cabin. All Chris has to do is hide away and write, but he’s lost his muse, and not even he can make stories appear from thin air.

Sawyer Wiseman left town for Chicago, chasing the excitement and potential of being a big city cop, rising the ranks, and making his mark. A case gone horribly wrong draws him back to Lancaster Falls. Working for the tiny police department in the town he’d been running from, digging into cold cases and police corruption, he spends his day's healing, and his nights hoping the nightmares of his last case leave him alone.

This sounds good I love when books have a background story that goes through the series, although makes it frustrating waiting for the next one ?

I’m a fan of Jeff Deaver’s Lincoln Rhyme/Amelia Sachs series and I never miss a Dana Stabenow Kate Shugak mystery – the Alaska setting teaches me something every time.

I’m looking forward to this new series. I love that the books are separate but there is a case that links all three together, which I hope means that characters will pop up in each others books. I love the covers and the font for the new series…just enough darkness to pull you in and know some creepy stuff is going to be happening.

So many cop’s shows that I loved! And… Starsky and Hutch was one of my first pairings XD

I like the sound of your new series, but then, mystery is my favourite genre, and when the books have queer protagonists? Absolute heaven 😀

I always loved MOONLIGHTING, and THE ROCKFORD FILES when I was older (as a kid, I got too upset that Jim had had to serve a jail term for a crime he didn’t commit). I also watched PSYCH even though it bugged me from time to time (I absolutely shipped Shawn and Gus, and was stunned that so few did). There’s a fun WILL AND GRACE Halloween episode where Jack dresses as Hutch and eventually finds his Starsky (it’s even cuter when you hear the Spanish dubbing)…

i really like the sound of this new series. A writer that’s struggling with his Muse (and has an agent that doesn’t get that the Muse can’t be forced). A small town boy who left, only to return to heal and finding something unexpected back home. And the mystery… things revealed that were meant to stay hidden. I CANNOT WAIT!! :: grin ::

as for favorite detectives/spies/crime solvers… i can’t pick just ONE! Lord Peter Wimsey. Sherlock Holmes. Jim West and Artemus Gordon. Illya Kuriakin and Napoleon Solo. Miss Emma Peel and Mr John Steed. Modesty Blaze. The Green Hornet. Nero Wolfe and Archie Goodwin.

    yeah. i’m a mystery junkie.

I recently discovered “Unforgotten” on PBS. I binge-watched all 3 series. Loved it.

I highly recommend the Kate Burkholder series by Linda Castillo. The main character is a police chief in a small Ohio town who also happens to be formerly Amish. It’s fascinating to read how she moves between the Amish and the “English” worlds to solve the case at the heart of each book.

I love Psych and Monk for more recent shows. I know, those are old, but we don’t have cable anymore and I haven’t watched TV in years. So, I’m not current with newer shows. I was a teenager in the ’80’s and loved all those ’70’s and ’80’s cop/ detective shows. Miami Vice was my favorite.

I knew there was more than one reason we got a long so well. I’m a huge fan of cop shows too, along with procedurals. I’ve been known to lose an entire night watching reruns of Criminal Minds or CSI etc on Sky, and only realise how late it is when it gets light again, lol
