Had an amazing start to the Christmas season yesterday. The family had the annual visit to a local manor house – Waddesdon Manor – all lit up for Christmas and with a Christmas fair (which I LOVE).
Wiki – Waddesdon Manor – The Grade I listed house was built in the Neo-Renaissance style of a French château between 1874 and 1889 for Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild (1839–1898) as a weekend residence for grand entertaining and as a setting for his collection.
It’s a really gorgeous house, and the grounds are extensive, and at Christmas, it is all lit up with light shows, and trees. Stunning. It wasn’t frosty enough for me, it was actually a warmish evening, but other than that? Wonderful.
And also very inspirational. In fact, many scenes from Christmas Prince were based on the rooms and corridors of the manor house – just on a hugely grander scale.
