I hurried as fast as I could, not wanting to be the last to the meeting, as I really had no excuse for being late, checking my phone for messages, and walked straight into someone.
“Fuck,” I think I said, as I reeled back, as did the person I hit. Noah. He was rubbing his chest, right over his ID, and my first thought was I’d hurt one of our drivers and now I was going to be fired. My second was way more in line with how much I wanted to touch him again, but maybe not quite so violently. In my imagination there was softer touches and maybe kissing and some—
“Don’t they teach you to keep your head up at learner driver school?” Noah deadpanned.
“No, I mean, yes, I was just walking and checking what the stats from…”
He’d already gone—left me stuttering and stumbling over perfectly normal words, and I was basically talking to myself.
“You’ll be late!” Lennon muttered as he trotted past me, heading after Noah and catching him just before the offices.
Nope, I wasn’t going to be late, and I took a left at a fast run, vaulted a small wall, slid down the banister to some stairs, and then casually walked into the office six feet ahead of Noah and Lennon. I pretended not to see Lennon smirk, and took my usual seat, slipping on headphones and opening the channel.
