There's something about small town romances – they remind me of Hallmark movies, where everyone knows everyone. There's a bookstore, a coffee shop, churches, and most of all family history going back generations. Sometimes I've used that in my Christmas books (Wishing Tree), made it all cute and fluffy and yummy.
Other times I've pulled at the threads of secrets in a close-knit community and come up with things like Lancaster Falls. In that trilogy there is the small-town feel, but alongside the strong family storylines there is a claustrophobic feeling in a town rife with secrets and pain.
There will be a book 2 in my Wishing Tree series, coming Christmas 2023.
