I’m a total summer baby. I love hot days filled with hours and hours of sunshine and I hate being cold. But my favorite sports take place on the ice, and in the winter Olympics, I get to see both hockey and figure skating, showcased by some of the best talent in the world.
My earliest memory of the Olympics is of a figure skating pairs performance when I was maybe six years old. Whether pairs or solo skaters, I’ve remained in awe of the jumps and spins they can do ever since, and I love the color and sparkle of their outfits.
I’m equally as impressed by the sheer skill and physicality of hockey players, and have been a fan of the game since I was a kid. During the 2018 Olympics, my favorite hockey games were between the women’s teams. I cheered for both Team USA and Team Canada, and when the gold medal game came down to a shootout between the two, I was on the edge of my seat. I’m so excited to see what these teams, along with their men’s counterparts, will do in the 2022 Olympic games.
I’ve probably strapped on a pair of ice skates no more than fifteen times in my life, and am a let’s hold on to the side of the rink while we circle it kind of person who more often than not crashes into the boards as a method of stopping. That figure skaters and hockey players can maneuver over the sleek frozen sheet with such skill, grace, and fearlessness is amazing to me. And so, bundled under a blanket or two and drinking hot tea, I’ll be watching the Olympic games, cheering for all who set figure skate and hockey skate on the ice, and of course, as a summer baby, impatiently waiting for the warm weather to return.
Scoring Slater
Slater Knox is known around the league as the tough enforcer for the Buffalo Bedlam. His popular social media accounts and open relationship with the fans have made him one of the most beloved players in hockey. They’ve also earned him a spot in the All-Star game, and an invitation to be a bachelor at a charity auction. For all his living in the spotlight, he’s hiding a secret… He’s in love with his best friend and keeping quiet grows harder each day.
Noah Alzado is the newest addition to the team, and has spent the last few months joined at the hip with his best friend Slater. Slater is everything Noah wants, but won’t let himself have. They are best friends, roommates, and teammates, that’s three complications too many. Plus, Noah guards his private life as fiercely as Slater shares his own. His best option is to keep his head down, help his team win, and not do anything stupid… like kissing Slater again.
Everything comes to a head during All-Star weekend, where the best in the league compete for ultimate bragging rights, and at the auction, where temptation is hot enough to melt the ice. The chemistry between Slater and Noah is scorching, but can they lower their defenses enough to make a play for love?
Scoring Slater is part of the Hockey Allies Bachelor Bid series, and the Buffalo Bedlam series (book 6).

Laurel says
I love when they just do little spur of the moment things for them like run their baths. Just simple stuff like that.
Shelia says
I love it when they do things like surprise them with their favorite breakfast. Or like another comment running their bath and washing their hair while speaking lovingly to them. Simple but romantic.
Linda says
Opening a door. Holding hands.
ButtonsMom2003 says
Back rubs, all the back rubs. 🙂
Trix says
It’s totally contingent on the characters and their relationship, based on those in-joke references that only the other guy would know and love…
Jennifer Shannon says
Little touches like holding hands or stroking hair.
Ginger Connatser says
Holding hands
Manon Rump says
Collecting me from the train station in winter when I am tired and don’t want to walk the 20 minutes home. And not commenting at all about it but tucking me away and bringing me a cup of tea. (And yes, I also do this for him)
So, it’s the little things.
Marion says
I like when they surprise them with something special to the character. Could be as simple as stocking their favorite beer or brand of cookie.
