Too many to choose from. I love The Magpie Lord by KJ Charles and I loved Widdershins by Jordan L Hawk and of course your The Gallows Tree. I am going to have to add some of these to my TBR pile as I have not read them yet.

So many of my favorites on this list and many of these authors have other great stories too. For new authors I’d add “Bonds of Earth” by GN Chevalier – a lovely post WWI story; “Snowball in Hell” by Josh Lanyon – a 1943 detective story with a tentative HFN; Heidi Cullinan’s “A Private Gentleman” which deals with addiction in Regency London; Aleksandr Voinov’s “Unhinge the Universe” in WWII; anything by Lucius Parhelion (“Faster Then the Speed of Light from the 1950s is the best, but out of print. His turn of the century cowboys are also excellent) ; ZA Maxfield’s “Secret Light” about a refugee from Nazi Germany in the US in the 1950’s ; “Kindred Hearts” by Rowan Speedwell – Regency; Debbie McGowan’s “When Skies Have Fallen” a WWII free story and Lambda Award winner; Eli Easton’s Middle Ages “The Lion and the Crow”; Alex Sorel’s “Box 1663” set during the atomic bomb project; Sarah Granger’s “A Minor Inconvenience” set in the Peninsula War…. and more LOL. I do love a good historical.

Firstly, so pleased I can brag I’ve got & read everyone of those listed.
Fave. is still Vincent Virga, Gaywyck. Hon. mentions to Erastes, Standish and Mel Keegan, East Wind Blowing.
Many more authors deserve to be listed ’cause they keep my history kink fed.

An old favorite of mine is “Roselynde” by Roberta Gellis, and other books in that series. I’ve read several of the above, though. I just finished “Eleventh Hour” last night. “Lessons in Love” was one of the earlier M/M romances I read. I’m surprised that paranormal romance was included in with historical, as I think of historical as a different category from paranormal. However, I’ve read a number of the books that K.J. Charles and Jordan L. Hawk have written, and enjoyed them.
