Thank you so much for letting me join your Coffee Corner, RJ!
If you don’t know me by now, my name is Brigham Vaughn. I write across a variety of subgenres in contemporary romance including kink, but lately I’ve been writing hockey romance.
Last year I released a 6-book series called the Rules of the Game series and I just launched a spin-off 5-book series called Relationship Goals.
The new series features a hockey team named the Toronto Fisher Cats.
But don’t worry, although there are references to the previous series and familiar characters who show up in the new one, you don’t have to have read all of the previous books to enjoy The Husband Game.
The story starts with a bang when the team captain, Dustin Fowler, wakes up in Vegas following the NHL awards with a ring on his finger and realizes he’s married to Charlie Monaghan, a former figure skater turned interior designer who is NOT amused to realize what they drunkenly got up to the night before.
Excerpt:
Dustin’s agent was definitely going to help the team’s PR department string him up by his nuts for not informing him about the wedding ahead of time.
But how in the hell could Dustin have warned anyone about his marriage to the beautiful and sassy figure skater when clearly neither of them had planned to get married?
When Dustin’s foreplay with Charlie had consisted of flirtatious arguments where Charlie pushed him away with one hand and pulled him close with another, a wedding had been nowhere on Dustin’s radar.
A pained groan made him turn.
Charlie made another sleepy noise as he flung his hand onto his chest, a massive diamond winking on his ring finger.
Dustin let out another small sigh, his chest warming with affection at the sight.
Maybe they hadn’t planned this, but Dustin couldn’t deny how much he liked the idea of Charlie asleep in his bed wearing his wedding ring.
As Dustin glanced at the marriage certificate in his hand, he considered his options.
Sure, the league, the PR department for his team, and his agent might kill him … but on the other hand, he was pretty sure he was legally married to Charles Nicholas Monaghan III.
It could be worse.
***
Charlie lurched over to the table, staring in horror at the very official-looking marriage license.
Dustin Theodore Fowler and Charles Nicholas Monaghan III.
Fuck my life, he thought, clutching his hair.
The sharp jolt of pain sent a little clarity through his muddled thoughts and a surge of anger straightened his spine. “There’s no way in hell I’d marry anyone sober, much less you.”
“Ouch.” Dustin grimaced, leaning back against the rumpled sheets to prop himself up on his forearms.
Charlie absolutely didn’t take notice of the way the pose made the crisp cotton poplin fabric stretch across Dustin’s firm pecs.
He didn’t.
“I am kind of a catch, you know?” Dustin continued. “I did win my fourth Ted Lindsay Award and I’ve been listed as one of Toronto’s most eligible bachelors for the past ten years.”
“It’s not my fault no one else wants you,” Charlie snarked. “I don’t want you.”
“Damn, we haven’t even been married twelve hours and you’re already acting like you’re done with me.”
“Of all of the ridiculous—” Charlie broke off. “You know what? I don’t care. I want this over with. Twelve hours married to you is way too fucking many. If this is legit, we need to get this nightmare annulled before it’s too late.”
“Look, kitten.” Dustin straightened, his expression growing serious. “I’m pretty sure that ship has already sailed.”
“What?” he rasped.
“Apparently we announced it on Instagram last night and it blew up everywhere.”
