“It is absolutely enthralling, with a tight plot, lots of twists and one of the loveliest, most unexpected, love stories I have read in a long time.”
“Heart of Texas is the first in a epic story. If you were a fan of the TV show Dallas or Dynasty the Heart of Texas is both in one. This book as intrigue, suspense, Love, sex, and a true caring. The story has all of the makings of a great epic. the families all the challenges, dysfunctions, and drama to over come but also the love, understanding and caring to make it possible. This story made me cry with both emotions of sadness and joy…I strongly recommend this book and all of the books by R. J. Scott the writing style and depth is in the upper tier of writer and is rarely seen in this genre.”
“I absolutely loved this story, I was hooked from start to finish. All the characters are engaging and you can't help being drawn in. RJ Scott's writing is absorbing and the characters and events feel real. Well worth reading. I would rank as a must read in this genre.”
The Heart of Texas
This is a story of murder, deceit, the struggle for power, lust and love, the sprawling life of a rancher and the whirlwind existence of a playboy.
Riley Hayes, the playboy of the Hayes family, is a young man who seems to have it all: money, a career he loves, and his pick of beautiful women. His father, CEO of HayesOil, passes control of the corporation to his two sons; but a stipulation is attached to Riley's portion. Concerned about Riley's lack of maturity, his father requires that Riley 'marry and stay married for one year to someone he loves'.
Angered by the requirement, Riley seeks a means of bypassing his father's stipulation. Blackmailing Jack Campbell into marrying him "for love" suits Riley's purpose. There is no mention in his father's documents that the marriage had to be with a woman and Jack Campbell is the son of Riley Senior's arch rival. Win win.
Riley marries Jack and abruptly his entire world is turned inside out. Riley hadn't counted on the fact that Jack Campbell, quiet and unassuming rancher, is a force of nature in his own right.
This is a story of murder, deceit, the struggle for power, lust and love, the sprawling life of a rancher and the whirlwind existence of a playboy. But under and through it all, as Riley learns over the months, this is a tale about family and everything that that word means.

I’ve read one maybe two but having now read the Legacy series I definitely want to go back & read the rest of them & fill in the cross over characters that pitch up in Legacy.
Team JackRiley all the way! 😊
Team Jack/Riley!
I have not read this series. Guess what is next on my TBR list?
I haven’t read the series but now I want to. I loved the show Dallas. The cover from the wedding is my favorite.
JackRiley all the way. I miss them. They are in my to re read pile. The Heart Of Texas is my favourite.
Team Jack at the start. It takes me awhile to warm up to rich playboy characters.
Haven’t read the series yet… but the “Texas Gift” cover is intriguing to me…
I’m totally team Jack & Riley. I loved the whole series.
I’ve not read this series
I like book 1’s cover the most.
I haven’t read this series yet, but Home for Christmas is intriguing because only one of them is on the cover.
Team Jack but i love Riley too. They are perfect together and you can’t have one without the other.
I’m tema Jack-Riley. I LOVE them both!!
I haven’t read it yet, but it sounds like a great story.
Yes I have read the whole series! Loved it!!! As for TeamJack or TeamRiley, I loved them both, so I can’t choose.
Love the series. Team Jack
I am team JackRiley since they each would not be who they have become without the other.
This is on my TBR, love the two males on the cover 🥰.
team Jack
I’m team Jack/Riley and loved every book of the series and the cover on #5 the best. Am looking forward to any and all books about the family. Love all you books that I can get. Santuary too! All the hockey ones. Pre-order every one I have a chance to. Lois
Team Jack. Riley took a while to warm up. to.
Team JackRiley
Yes, bought myself a copy. Only took a couple of days to read.
I haven’t read the series yet, I’m adding it right now to my TBR list 🙂
The cover that calls to me the most is Texas Winter.
I have not read this series yet, which kind of surprises me, but it is on the ever-growing, unforgiving TBR list.
I haven’t read the series but the cover of The Heart of Texas gets me. The guys are sexy AF and anything set in Texas with cowboys gets this ole man’s heart pumping.
I’ve read a couple, and root for JackRiley!
JackRiley. They are so much better together.
I love the Texas series. I’m definitely a team Jack/Riley girl. The cover of Texas Fall is my favorite with the cover of Texas Family, a close second. The Heart of Texas is my favorite book of the series. I go back and read the series, again, every year or so. I’m so thrilled that there might be another book in the series. I’m ready to read it, now!
Not yet, but it is on my list.
I’m definitely team Jack/Riley. I love the whole series of Texas and have read them all a few times as well as the Legacy series.
Jack and Riley are everything we all wish we could have in real life the kind of family you know will always have your back and you have unconditional love and someone go to out by the rails with a coffee and talk and oh boy I feel like I need to read them again. I hope that at some point we can have an update on this wonderful and extended family in the future

I have not read this series yet. Looking at the covers I will love it. I really like the cover with Jack and Riley with the kids on their shoulders.
OMG, this has made my day. I love this series and have read them many times over. Can’t wait for the next one in this series
I haven’t read them. I love all the covers but Book three cover really catches my attention.
Thanks for the chance
Team JackRiley!
I haven’t read these books yet, but I do love the sweet men in the covers 😉
I’ll always choose a cowboy over a playboy; playboys just know how to play at being a good boy, cowboys won’t stop till the jobs done and done right (no matter how hot an sweaty they get), cowboys know how to wear and work leather, they’re good with their hands and quick with a rope, they’re gentlemen and will always offer a ride if ya want one and while they are called cowboys those men sure know how to fill out them jeans. Oh before I forget yeah I read the series but not since it came out, might have to do a reread.
I am team Jack/Riley. I think you can’t root for one without the other.
Jack and Riley together are a force of nature. You can’t have one without the other!
I have not read the book yet but my eye was caught by the horse and rider as I love horse. I also liked the intertwined hearts in the barn, that’s a nice touch.
I haven’t read the whole series, but I have read the first book and I am team Jack.
When reading, I was Team Riley but when listening to the audio, Team Jack because of Sean Crisden’s take on Jack. So I guess overall, team Jack/Riley?!
Team Jack/Riley
Totally team Jack/Riley, there is no one, without the other 😀
