Reviews have been playing on my mind a lot recently.
There has been controversy over on Amazon this week, sock puppets and an author badmouthing readers. I've had my fair share of bad reviews on Amazon, shit happens, some people like your writing, some don't, it's cool (and yes, it has taken me four years to get to that zen-like acceptance!). There is no excuse for being rude to someone who has commented on your book. Absolutely NO excuse.
On being reviewed
In my post What would I tell my 2010 self about being an MM writer? – I added in that I should never “respond to that one star review on Goodreads. Because the guy who wrote it is fishing for a fight, and boy will he enjoy that fight.” My next point was to add that actually don't join Goodreads in the first place. Why did I say both these things?
I am a sensitive soul who doesn't much like criticism or to be laughed at.
Sighs… The lessons we learn…
