What is there not to love about autumn? The colors are amazing for a start – the golds and reds, and the last stubborn greens, as you walk with the dog in the woods. The smells… I could wax lyrical for ages about the scent of bonfires, and the soft mists, and the occasional frost that touches the grass and tips of the leaves.
I am an autumn-girl, no doubt about it. The heat will go, the mornings will be crisp, it will be my birthday, and I’m always reminded of the newness of the school year in September.
Then there is the excitement of Christmas, just around the corner. Yep, so much to love about Autumn.
A few of my books are centered around Autumn, I think I have said this before. The Gallows Tree paints pictures of a beautiful normal church in a typical English village, surrounded by a carpet of golden leaves. Then there is the fact that I also set books in Vermont, which strikes me as one of the most beautiful places to visit in the Fall. One day maybe.
