Rainbow Snippets is a group for LGBTQ+ authors, readers, and bloggers to gather once a week to share six sentences from a work of fiction–a WIP or a finished work or even a 6-sentence book recommendation (snippets are 6 sentences long–one for each colour in the Pride flag). You can find all the snippets by clicking here.
My snippet this week is from Winter Cowboy, the first book in my new Whisper Ridge, Wyoming Series out February 28.
I didn’t have hate in my heart anymore for Micah Lennox. Nor did I have compassion or forgiveness.
I had nothing.
No sympathy, or understanding, just a big empty space that held nothing but bad memories. Ones I didn’t pull out too often to think on. Any residual empathy I’d felt for Micah had vanished after I’d found Chris in the bathroom with a bottle of pills because he couldn’t imagine having a life after losing his leg.
The Book – Out February 28
Micah Lennox left Whisper Ridge after promising the man he loved that he would never return. But with his sister’s life was in danger, the only way he knows to keep her and his nephew safe is to go home. Spending winter in Wyoming, when he’d promised never to return, opens too many old wounds, but he’s on the run from justice which can’t be far behind, and this is his last chance at redemption.
After a hostage situation leaves Doctor Daniel Sheridan struggling with PTSD, he returns to Whisper Ridge. Joining his dad in family practice is a balm to soothe his exhausted soul, and somehow, he finds a peace he can live with. That is until he meets Micah in a frozen graveyard, and the years of anger and feelings of betrayal boiling inside him, erupt.
Two broken men fight and scratch for their lives and that of their families, and somehow, in the middle of it all, they find each other.
Is it possible that love can be rekindled and become a forever to believe in?
