The charity I support is *Lindengate*.
Matthew, my son, attends here twice a week and the benefits in terms of therapy are vast. I can’t begin to explain what this place means to our family. Matt find peace here, losing himself in gardening and organizing, and taking on projects that he calls his own. Amazing place, amazing staff, and every penny counts.
“Lindengate is a Buckinghamshire based charity, that offers a variety of therapeutic gardening related activities in an outdoor environment to help those dealing with mental health issues in their continuing recovery. Lindengate aims to meet a long-term and growing demand for such activities.”

More about Lindengate
“The value of natural open spaces and gardens within the urban environment has been recognized for centuries, but recognition of the benefits of the ‘process’ of gardening is more recent. There is now significant evidence from research programmes to qualify ‘Social and Therapeutic Horticulture’ (STH) as a successful method to help in the rehabilitation of a wide range of physical and mental conditions.
Lindengate operates from a 4-acre site near Wendover that is being developed into a much needed STH facility specifically for those dealing with a range of mental health issues.
It is known from research that serious and enduring mental illness leads to loss of self-esteem and self-confidence, higher rates of unemployment, social exclusion and hence isolation. All of these can significantly compound the original problem. By providing a range of gardening activities in a calm rural setting Lindengate strives to improve the emotional wellbeing and general health of all its users by building self-confidence, offering social inclusion and skill development and, by its very nature, reducing isolation.
We welcome anyone over the age of 16 needing support with a wide range of mental health issues and we are committed to fostering opportunities for a sustainable improvement. Currently, there are over 60 users (or ‘Gardeners’ as we know them) who attend Lindengate each week and benefit from the STH services provided by the professional team and large volunteer base.”
