Day 17 - BL Maxwell
And today is… BL MAXWELL!!!!
Hi everyone! Big thanks to RJ Scott for organizing this fun project! I love an Advent Calendar, and I also love going back to the tiny town I grew up in at Christmas. The town in my new book Remember When is based on my hometown, and how even though you leave, when you come back it's like you never left. The town is still decorated the same way it was when I was a kid, and it still amazes me how small it all seems now. It's also about how sometimes you have to leave if you want to make your dreams come true.
Remember When
Just like he’s done every year, Andrew Lawson makes the drive to his small hometown to spend Thanksgiving with his family. He moved away to Sacramento years ago and going home is something he looks forward to with every holiday. As soon as he pulls into town, he notices his old friend Link walking to the local bar.
Link Stanton still lives in the same small farming town he grew up in. Not much has changed over the years, including the way he feels about his best friend, Andy. He spots Andy just as he turns onto main street and convinces him to have a drink. When one beer turns into too many shots, he makes a confession to Andy that could change their friendship forever. If Andy could in fact, recall that Thanksgiving conversation in time for Christmas. A night to remember—if only he could.

City!
In between city and country is perfect for me, I love a mid size town.
City, although I live in the country.
Rural, so I suppose country, although the city I grew up in (100klms north of here) is only 200,000 people, so more feral than city LOL
I live in the city but I am more of a country girl
I like cities, though it helps if they have some bucolic features (ocean, etc)
I’m more of a city person as I don’t drive and get around on foot or by bus. But I like a smaller rather than bigger city!
Happy holidays to all who see this.
It’s funny because I live a in a small town and most of the time it is too small. I would say I’m a city person, that is until I’m on vacation in one and then I can’t wait to get back home.
City
Country. I like small towns.
City. The country can keep its critters and its sticker burrs and its zero WiFi.
Country. I like the peace and quiet.
Somewhere in between…….
City
I prefer the country. More peace and quiet
Small city next to country. I love country but hate having to drive even for a pint of milk.
Small city
Country – city for 2 nights isabout me done!
I’m a city person, but I would like to try country l iui fe someday.
Try country life someday.
Country!
City
I want to live in the country but visit the city.
Country. I’ve always lived in small towns, then it was the country, now we live in the backwoods, lol We are just getting more and more into the wilderness as life goes on. Love your books BL!
I like living close to the city, but I love reading about the country and small towns.
City! The bigger the better 😊
Although I live in the city, I’m a country girl at heart. I love small town Christmases. And I love that Lawson seems to be a popular name this year. It’s great to have more family. 🙂
Country. I live in a lovely small rural town
I’m a country person who wants to be close enough to the city to get to city things but not have to deal with city living.
I’m neither one or the other. I love where I live in a small town which is spaced out a bit and feels semi rural. I certainly wouldn’t want to go back to city living it makes me feel claustrophobic.
I need to be in the countryside. Open skies and birdsong. Happy Christmas!
Well I suppose city since I live in a town of 100,000. I like the close shopping. But I would be ok with no one around too. Lol
I’ve spent my life as a city or suburbs girl…. But 3 years ago I was moved to a very, very rural community for work. It was definitely a culture shock. What’s more surprising is that I don’t hate it. Lol!
Small town . The type were the police force is just a couple of cops and the whole county is volunteer fire and rescue squad. But we have back yards and front yards and you don’t have to turn sideways to walk between houses. Lol
A bit of both. I like working and shopping in the city. But when I eventually get a house I want to be in the country or at least in the outskirts where it’s quieter.
Give me public transit and 24/7 access to markets and dining. City all the way!
I am definitely a city person. County while it seems rustic and quaint just isn’t for me.
Country
Country
Country
city
A little of both. I want to live in the country but not far from the city.
I live on the outskirts of a city and that’s perfect for me I get the peace of a rural town but am close to the bustle of a lively city.
I am originally from a big city. I am now living in a city with a small-town feel.
country
country
Born a city girl but when married I definately turned into a country girl. We lived on 5 acres, built our house w/o bank involvement, raised beef and swine, grew a garden which allowed me to make my own baby food for our two children. I wouldn’t change my country life for any other kind of life.
I’d say I’m a suburb girl, which I guess would be more city. I definitely prefer to have a variety of relatively close stores & restaurants, but I can’t stand city parking! I’m not to big on the idea of running into wildlife, either….
Country. I’m running off a generator right now after a huge wind storm knocked out power a couple days ago.
Definitely more country! I like the convenience of city, but it’s also very peopley!
City person living in a quiet district or in the suburbs… I like being anonymous and city gives you that, but I also like quiet 🙃
City, since I don’t know how to drive, I need to be able to walk down the block and have everything within walking distance lol
Grew up country, moved to city for a job… Still prefer country!
Country girl through and through 🙂
I’m a strange mix of city and country. I grew up in a county neighborhood with 1/4 acre lots, lots of livestock, and neighborhood 4th of July picnics. But we were just outside of a city (not large, just normal) with an art museum, full library, ballet classes – all the things that can be hard to find in a very small town.
I’m lucky enough to live in the suburbs of a great and grand city, and I’m glas to have the best of both.
City, with some yearning for the country.
I definitely prefer the country!
I live in the Greater Seattle metropolitan area, in a smallish city of ~200,000. It’s a sprawling city, but the downtown core, where I live, is tiny. I love it. I don’t drive, but the bus transportation is excellent, and we have a commuter train stopping at our transit center weekdays.
Town is more my speed.
I used to be a city person. The older I get the more I want to be a country person. I guess it is because I am losing patience with people and would rather be out and about in nature instead. 🙂 Hope you have an awesome Christmas and New Year
Born and raised in a big city, but I am a homebody so I fell like a country girl most of the time.
country
I like both but live in the country side.
Country
Born in a City, but country boy at heart.
Historical city!
Country
I’m a little of both or something in between. I tend to be more country, but not deep into the hills. I’m from N. Carolina and being country can mean much more than what I am.
Country, but I live in the city
Country but close to a city
both
City Slicker here, born and raised in Dallas, now in Chicago
Either Or, I have no preference. I grew up in the burbs of San Juan, PR so it was quite busy (not in our neighborhood, though), and have lived in the country on and off for many years. Where I am right now, is near the top of a mountain, and every…single…idiot around have guns and riffles and they are trigger happy (windows rattling loud). Came here for peace and quiet, it’s the least I’ve gotten.
Country
I enjoy a foray in the country, but after a bit I begin to miss the conviences of the city.
I like the convenience of having everything close in the city, but I do like the space and friendliness of the country (although the likelihood of encountering snakes in the country is a lot higher than in the city, and thats very scary)
I live in the city but prefer the country. I lived in the country up until I was in my teens and wish I had never moved to the city.
Definitely country, I live in a small town and that’s enough for me. It’s too much in a city, traffic, people….. brain overload lol. In my town, everything is close at hand and it’s nice knowing friendly faces as you walk around.
If living alone, I woul prefer city. With others, country is fine.
Love to visit the country to “get away”, but I need the city.
I’ve lived in both and prefer the country. If I need something, I can drive to the city.
Somewhere in the middle
total city person, I know I could make it in the country, but I need to be in a city.
Country, born and raised in Nebraska!
I live in a town outside of a city and I love both. Now that I am in a small town, I love all the personal stores. But I was in the city this week and we have as many cool boutique shops there. Maybe I’m just lucky in my location. But I would say I like to live in a town and be close to a city.
Country, even though I currently live in the city.
100% country.
Country!
country
I am more of a city person but I like to go to my childhood place and it’s very much a country place.
City!
City person
I live in the country but would be happy in a city without traffic lol
I love the country! I can visit the city but never live there!
I don’t like cities at all, I’m definitely a country girl.
Country
city
A mix of each
I’m a city gal but I love visiting country places.
City, preferably with bike lanes.
City! Love lots of options of things to do.
