I’m happy to be on RJ’s blog to talk about The Hockey Player’s Heart, a book I’ve co-written with my husband, Will Knauss. It’s a feel good, gay hockey romance where NHL superstar Caleb Carter gets his second chance with grade school teacher Aaron Price.
Will and I had a great time creating these characters. For me, anytime I get to write a hockey player is a good time. Caleb is an out and proud captain for the New York Rangers (sorry, RJ) and plays alongside his best friend, Dimitri Stansilov. It was important to me to feature an out pro player who had no issues with the closet or his past. Hockey players play a role in most of my books and giving a player at the top of his game the chance to get his HEA was terrific.
Caleb has his eyes set on Aaron, who he reconnects with while back in his hometown to finish recovering from an injury. Back in high school, Aaron tutored Caleb in geometry and he’s never forgotten his teacher. What neither of them knew at the time was that they both harbored crushes. Caleb’s trip home turns into a second chance to go for what they couldn’t as teenagers.
I hope you’ll check out The Hockey Player’s Heart and escape into the romance between Caleb and Aaron.
The Book – OUT NOW
Hometown hero. Hockey superstar. Perfect boyfriend?
When hockey star Caleb Carter returns to his hometown to recover from an injury, the only thing he’s interested in is a little R & R. He never expects to run into his onetime crush at a grade school fund-raiser. Seeing Aaron Price hits him hard, like being checked into the boards. The attraction is still there, even after all these years, and Caleb decides to make a play for the schoolteacher. You miss 100 percent of the shots you never take, right?
Aaron has been burned by love before and can’t imagine what a celebrity like Caleb could possibly see in a guy like him. Their differences are just too great. But as Aaron spends more time with Caleb, he begins to wonder if he might have what it takes to win the hockey player’s heart.
